A Trustee of Action
Since being elected in 2018, Cindy has taken an active approach as a Trustee and worked tirelessly to help generate much needed channels of communication for the families in Ward 3.
During her eight-year term, Cindy has served on every committee within the Trustee portfolio. She is presently in her second term serving as Chair of the Board following two years as Vice-Chair.
As a Board, we have championed several accomplishments over the past four years, including:
Securing the building of two new schools in Waverley West to be opened in 2027 and 2029.
The development of a living anti-racism policy that will continue to grow and change with the needs of the Division.
The creation of a universal lunch program to be implemented in September 2026.
Pembina Trails’ continued growth in Indigenous education and reconciliation, including the Division’s first Pow Wow.
Supporting students, families, and staff through initiatives that promote positive mental health and a healthy school/work/life balance.
As part of a forum that brought together Trustees, municipal and provincial government representatives, parent groups, and community partners, a funding plan for new playgrounds and repairs to existing playgrounds was created.
Part of Cindy’s work has meant meeting as many Ward 3 families, students, and staff as possible. Cindy has been a constant presence and supporter at band concerts, winter concerts, BBQs, fundraisers, cultural celebrations, graduations, staff appreciation days, I Love to Read Month at various schools, and many assemblies. She has never missed a Board meeting.
CIndy is excited about the new formal student leadership program, planned for September 2026, bringing student voice directly to the Board table. She will continue to be approachable, visible, and creative in engaging the community.
Supporting families to navigate the Division's procedures, especially during sensitive and complex situations, is an area that Cindy has been recognized by families for her compassion and skill.
Belonging is the heartbeat of inclusion.
Cindy is a passionate advocate of creating a Division that ensures all students and staff feel safe, valued, capable of success, and that they belong.
